United Electric Cooperative will be installing a new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) beginning August 1. United Electric’s current metering system is over 20 years old. Due to the age of the current system, United electric has been experiencing difficulties maintaining and supporting the existing AMI system.  By installing a new AMI system, United will be able to capture members electric consumption on an hourly basis which will allow our members to have greater visibility to their usage profile.  Below is a map of the locations we will be installing over a three year period.  The AMI is a metering system that provides near real-time communication between parts of our electric grid.

Advantages to Members

  • Allows on-demand meter reads.
  • Stores load profile data.
  • Calculates kW demand, records peak kW.
  • Calculates voltages to an accuracy of +-1% and records min/max voltages.
  • Logs date, time and duration of power interruptions.
