Fiber Initiative

United Electric has applied for a grant / loan combination through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) that would lead to the construction of approximately 1,500 miles of fiber lines, connecting homes and businesses in our area to a next generation fiber infrastructure.

The network will offer advanced broadband applications to 4,224 households and 58 businesses in rural, underserved portions of the counties we serve.  Services offered over the network include high speed internet access and triple-play broadband bundles from multiple internet, video and voice providers as well as home security, video surveillance, distance learning, telemedicine, and other future end-user applications.
